Conflict
Resolution: Getting Along in the Workplace
All of us
experience conflict. We argue with our spouses, disagree with
our friends, and sometimes even quarrel with strangers at a
hockey game. At times we lose sight of the fact that all this
conflict is normal. So long as people are individuals there will
be the potential for conflict. Since you can’t
prevent conflict, the most important thing is to learn how to
handle or manage it in productive ways. That’s what this
workshop is designed to help you do.
What
participants will learn:
-
Understand what conflict is
and how it can escalate
-
Be able to recognize the
five most common conflict resolution styles and when to use
them
-
Increase positive
information flow, through non-verbal and verbal
communication skills
-
Develop effective
techniques for intervention strategies
-
Strengthen staff trust and
morale
-
Become more confident of
your ability to manage conflicts to enhance productivity and
performance
Workshop
Outline:
As facilitator,
you have the option of using a variety of training methods
for each workshop. This includes large group discussions,
individual work and reflection, small group discussions &
exercises, case studies and simulations for role play.
Customization will be based on your own needs or information
provided by your human resource department or the individual
department prior to the workshop. Materials are designed as
interactive workshops with a 40/60 split between
concept/theory and practical application of skills
discussed. Class size should be kept under 20, whenever
possible, so each participant will have the opportunity to
gain techniques for the types of situations they deal with
or expect to deal with.
