Working
Smarter Using Technology to your Advantage
Technology is
supposed to save us time and make our lives easier, but
often it only complicates things. This two-day course is
designed to teach you, the manager, how to use technology to
your advantage so that you and your staff work smarter, not
harder. We’ll cover topics like using ergonomics to prevent
Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI); creating policies and
procedures to make sure company resources are used properly;
the best ways to use time-saving software (including e-mail,
instant messaging, contact management software, and
scheduling applications); and how to implement and manage
telecommuting. We’ll also talk about what to do when
employees get angry with computers and how to deal with
common problems related to technology.
What
participants will learn:
Be able to make your
workplace a technology-friendly place
Make the most of computers,
telephones, instant messaging, e-mail, contact management
applications, and scheduling software
Communicate better with the
IT department
Make the best software and
training choices
Be able to set an IT budget
Keep employees safe and
healthy
Develop and implement a
system usage policy
Decide whether or not
employees should telecommute and make telecommuting work
Deal with workplace rage
Address technological issues
Workshop
Outline:
As facilitator,
you have the option of using a variety of training methods
for each workshop. This includes large group discussions,
individual work and reflection, small group discussions &
exercises, case studies and simulations for role play.
Customization will be based on your own needs or information
provided by your human resource department or the individual
department prior to the workshop. Materials are designed as
interactive workshops with a 40/60 split between
concept/theory and practical application of skills
discussed. Class size should be kept under 20, whenever
possible, so each participant will have the opportunity to
gain techniques for the types of situations they deal with
or expect to deal with.
